Encloses photograph of the proposed war memorial in the window of the church porch [not present]. The design is by Gilbert Scott, grandson of the architect of Turvey chancel and brother of Sir Giles Scott. The inclusive cost will be about £80. Donations to date amout to about £50. Wonders whether Hugh or his brother would like to contribute. Also seeks Hugh's guidance as to the presidency of the Reading Room, which will come up at the annual meeting. Hugh's father has been president for many years, and Charlies Higgins vice president. Supposes Hugh should be elected in place of his father, but not sure if Hugh would like to take the position. Asks whether Hugh's brother John should be proposed. Thinks the president should be one of the family, as they own the room. General news; visit of writer's mother, Armistice Day services.
