Rec. of conveyance (L&R) appointment and assignment of 10 & 11 Dec 1819 between (a) Joseph Ibbs of Shefford, farmer and (b) William Bodger (c) Thomas Wells Fitzjohn and Robert Fitzjohn of Baldock, gents, surviving exors of will of George Fitzjohn of Baldock, maltster, decd. (d) Richard Bodger. Lands (below) appointed and released to (b) [(c) interested in same for residues of 2 terms of 1000 years each created by deed of 25 Mar 1737 between Robert Plomer and Oliver Humphreys junior and Robert Humphreys; and another of 28 October 1801 between George Edwards Esq and James Smyth) in trust for (a) to attend inheritence. (i) borrowing £1000 from (ii) - watermill called Portmill near River Hiz on north side of Mill Land in Manor of Hitchin, with site of 11p. and garden ground of 33 perches on south side of mill lane occ. by John Ransom, then Joseph Watson, with all app. except right of Crown to use River Hiz without prejudice to the mill, and except Crown's right of fishing there (Demised by Letters Patent of 26 Nov 1785 to William Bodgam, esq for 17 1/2 years, beginning 28 July 1798 ended about 28 January 1816 (rent of £78 p.a.) - 12 1/4acs. 4p. in Hitchin and Shefford fields, Clifton (occ. Mr Handscombe, then Joseph Ibbs, then James Paine and Thomas Stagger) - 6 1/4 ac. 31p. in Meppershall occ. by Christopher Fowler then John Fox, then Joseph Ibbs, adjg. Hitchin Turnpike Road. (Bt. by Joseph Ibbs of William Squire) - 1/4ac. in Upper Downs Shot in Shefford Field in Clifton, N. townland, S. land of Mr Arch, E. Wilkers Hill, W. Redhouse Gate - 1/4 ac. & 36p. in same field in Lower Downs Shot, N. Arch, S. Ibbs. E. Upper Downs, W. Sow & Pigs piece, occ. by Handscombe, then Joseph Ibbs who bt. them of Susanna Endersby, widow and others.
