  • Scope and Content
Is writing for Edith who is too low and prostrate to write letters. [Her only child, Godfrey, 2nd Lieutenant in Royal Flying Corps, was killed in action 8 July 1916 near Arras, France] Thanks for letter of sympathy. Recieved a telegram of sympathy from the King and Queen, which the writer supposes is sent to the relatives of every officer killed on active service. Comments about Godfrey's time in the Royal Flying Corps, his death and where he is buried. Asks if Kathleen might come and stay to keep Edith company.
