Letter from Henry Hugh Longuet Longuet-Higgins, Pembroke College, Oxford, to his wife [Albinia] Cecil Longuet-Higgins.

Has posted to Sydney Watson [organist at New College, Oxford, from 1933 to 1938, and musical director at Winchester College, from 1938 until 1945] the papers for them to get the 'applcation for admission to Balliol College' filled up and forwarded to the master. Went along but was refused permission to see the senior tutor, but saw the master. Told the master about son Christopher, and that Sydney Watson had written to him. Informed that there may be some scratch person put in to play the organ next term, but that one would be appointed for 1941. 1 July: 'It seems I never finished this one.' Thinks Chris may look forward to going to Balliol one way or another in 1941, if Hitler doesn't spoil everything.
