  • Scope and Content
Had epidemics in the school last term so broke up a week earlier, thus escaping examinations. As a result, begin next term a week earlier. History is still the writer's subject, though is coaching 2 girls for the Cambridge Higher Local which they hope to take next Christmas. Last term the staff had a pierrot entertainment which was fun. The writer sang two songs. Splendid that Hugh is now a chaplain; hopes he likes the work. Reference to Hugh's horse Septimus. Writer thinks she might make her hobby first aid and nursing, which would be useful. Johnhas been hard hit lately; it is a shame about his staff captaincy being annulled. Cara tried to be philosophical but finds it hard; they probably won't be married for another three months and Cara has not even been able to see him as his leave home was cancelled. Joan Bomford is being married on May 6 to Dr David Williamson and will have about a weeks honeymoon. He may then be ordered off as ship's doctor anywhere. The writer and 2 friends on the staff now go to rather a high church in Southport. Comments about the vicar and curate. A good many of the congregation go to confession, though the writer has not done so.
