- Scope and ContentWriter has taken a house in London for 14 years with leave to break the lease after 7 years. 'Brother Harry looks grave over my temerity ..... Edith and Bertha are ... elated and think I acted wisely.' It is in Palace Gardens Terrace, not far from Kensington High Street. Describes the property and the location. Edith is better but her general strength is not much; Bertha too looks pale and good for nothing; Arthur too. Florence seems as strong as possible. Mrs Willett has asked the writer and Edith to stay at the time of the wedding; has accepted for Edith on the Friday night. [Wedding of writer's son, Arthur Frederick William Johnson to Florence Edith Lane Cocking, 27 October 1894 at Brighton] Lady Alwyne is coming; she has given Florence an Indian silver necklace, and the niece has given her a small diamond brooch; Harry and Betty have given table cloths and dinner napkins. Successful day at Yarmouth; the Ladies Pictorial had an account of it ths week; Lady Alwyne was charming. Sorry about Gertrude's servants. Very sad about Lady Selwyn's death. Aunt Eliza is staying a few days at Betty's. Loves to hear of grandson Hugh's progress in anything. Writer is to invite family and all London friends to lunch at the Metropole at 12.30 on 27th with Arthur before the ceremony, and he will pay for it.
