- Scope and ContentWriter has had a swollen foot caused by a corn, but after treatment with hot boracic acid and iodine can now get a light shoe on. Weather is lovely, there has been no rain. Maude has been playing a lot of tennis. There is a tournament this week. There is an English church, Italian in style. The incumbent is in Italy for about six months, then goes back to work in the east end of London. Honora Bright is staying at a hotel about 5 minutes walk away. She had been in Italy since November and will stay till the end of her tenant's lease of her flat in London. The writer is going to tea with her on Saturday. Aunt Florry [writer's sisiter Florence] is seriously ill - writer awaits further news. Had a letter informing that Edith Wiglesworth was ill in a nursing home in Clifton, but a subsequent postcard reported she was better. 'I have had no letter or card from her since Daddy died - perhaps her memory is playing her fake and she forgets she has not written.' Thinking of going to Rome on February 2nd; has written to two hotels asking their charges. Wedding of Isobel and what might be a suitable present. Advised not to sent something from Italy as often parcels do not arrive. Will probably ask Kathleen to get something suitable. The same applied to Joyce Orlebar, who is to be married in early February [to James Kenneth Hope].
