- Scope and ContentAll the family of Longuet Higgins seems to have a sudden interest in hunting: the writer, Maude and Aunt Florrie went to the cubbing meeting at Emberton Woods and yesterday Pamela went to a meet [hunting] with John and Cara, and Hugh tells of going with Cecil, Pat and Christopher to see the start of the stag hunt. John and Cara stayed last weekend. Today the district surveyor, sent by the government, is going round the village and farms with H Gardner. When he has made his valuation, he and Captain Sanders will try to agree the valuation of the estate for probate. Pleased the children enjoyed the party 'tiny live rabbits out of a conjurors hat always create tremendous excitement t an audience of small folk.' Work in the garden. Maude has tickets for 'Ben Hur' on Friday. Jim Bomford has a second son, born 31 October. Arthur and Monica Sainsbury have heard from the Colonial Office that they are to go to Baghdad, so are busy preparing. Kathleen seems well and busy with a variety of social activities connectd with S. Augustines. Mrs Howard Beech is on a visit to Turvey Rectory and came for lunch.
