- Scope and ContentHugh's purchase of a Rover 10 car. Comments about the writer's Morris car. Maude has had great pain from two double teeth. In exctracting one, the Bedford dentist made a hughe gash in the side of her tongue, which necessitated liquid food for the best part of a week and has been very painful. Jumble sale next week in aid of repairs to the wall of the north aisle of the church. Asks if Hugh would like his father's overcoat and any of his suits. What are not of use to Hugh, writer would like to send for the use of some poor clergy. Also asks about his shoes. Unexpected visit of Lady Hampson and her son Gerrard. Gerrard is her courier, companion, nurse and everything. They were on their way from Yorkshire to London. Arthur Sainsbury has been appointed tax collector in Iraq[?]. As yet have no date for travel.
