Hopes to reach Newcastle on his way to Scotland before the end of next week. Wishes to investigate the story of the miner and wants to call on the widow in her own house but wants the answers to various questions about the widow first 'you, my friend, are a man of accuracy & anecdote & grace & [?] & you know what these sort of questions mean'. Has written to Miss Batson and the Honble Mrs Childers in the hope of introducing them to each other. Has written to Mr Fenwick to know whether a Jews meeting or sermon may be allowed us next week. Also intends to promote the cause of the Tract Society by meetings, sermons auxiliary formations, committees &c. Write a line to me at my sisters at Durham. Tell me whether Miss Bason is at home. Long P.S. as has had a letter from Mr Fenwick. Would prefer to have meeting for the Jews on Friday evening and a meeting for the Tract on the Saturday. Has engagements in Berwick and Haddington on the Monday and Tuesday following. Takes it for granted that Friday & Sunday will do for the Jews meeting and sermons. If Saturday will not do for The Tract it will have to be Monday or held over to another visit. Details of where to write to him during his journey. Mrs Childers to be informed of arrangements. 'Could any church for the Jews be procured within distance for my friend & coadjator there Mr Westoby on the Sunday? Do if you can is there not a little Jew [?] at Norh Shields?. His title is Rev Amos Westoby AM curate of Stagsden in Bedfordshire & late of St Edmonds Hall Oxford.'
