Have at last left the ship Franconia and under canvas. Camped oputside the town on sand, which gets everywhere. The men are beastly cramped. 'I don't think an awful lot of Eastern towns and people, but you see some funny sights and it is really jolly interesting.' Has only received one bill and a letter from Father, whereas others have received lots of letters.
