Obtained 3 days leave and went with 2 others to Caen and Bayeux. Describes the trips and the thing they saw. On return from leave, found the base depot was moving and was ordered to the 40th Stationary Hospital. Has a pleasant room in the Red Cross hut. There is tennis on Tuesdays and Saturdasys. Had 2 nights in Rouen and met cousin Sybil Johnson, who he had not seen since 1908. 'The fellow who was senior chaplain in the valley has made a most distressing and tragic mess of things and is now to the unspeakable shame of the chaplians' department, under arrest.' Sisters and ursing VADs organising dances. Kathleen is at home. Writer thinks she has a billet at a school in Essex next term. Mina is engaged. Does not know when he will see the King for his MC.
