    Had told Edith that he was coming home; is not on the water, and chaplain to the transport, having a happy, healthy and busy time. Is on the boxing and concert committees and confirmation classes have started well. There are three other priests on board, all senior to the writer. Is very glad to be getting home, and hopes to get over to France. Arrangements made before leaving Potchefstroom - including re-homing dog and cat, selling golf clubs, bicycle etc. Details of people on board (redacted by censor). Satisfied with successor at Potchefstroom. Was able to hand over to him personally. Hopes O. Edward [brother of Edith] is all right in Mesopotamia. Pleased the USA has entered the war. Reference to food rationing in England.
