Wonders if Edward Oswald has gone to Serbia. Has not heard rom Jasper lately [Jasper Selwyn Bazeley] Has to return to Johannesburg in about a week; has not managed to get appointed to the 2nd Infantry Brigade and htere is no intention of appointing a garrison chaplain. Comments about a benefit rugger match and singing at concerts. Comments o news from Edith's letter. 'John was in the show at Loos and says it was Neuve Chapelle over again.' Sends Christmas greetings and hopes next Christmas will be a brighter one.
