    Sorry to hear of all the illness. Hopes Aunt Edith is recovering, and that Aunt Katie is better. 'One lives here in an atmosphere of 'cure'. The doctor is pleased with Kenneth's [Dows?] condition ... and he certainly seems very fit.' Captain Moore has had an attack of incipient appendititis and is reduced to a milk diet, which does not help his 'cure', for which putting on weight is a necessity. Shepard came to lunch with Kenneth on Thursday when the writer was having lunch with Mrs and Miss Fitzgibbon. Miss Fitzgibbon is a student at St. Hilda's, Oxford. The dance last Monday was put off by the Germans who celebrated the Kaisar's birthday on Tuesday. ' ..seeing that we keep a princess in the house it was something special.' Mrs Dows is coming at the end of this week and the writer hopes he will not have to go to another hotel. Feels sorry for Mrs Adams; wishes it were possible to do something besides sympathise. Thanks for sending The Times; the weekly edition is a splendid sumary.Hopes Mother will enjoy The Spectator. The bridge the writer spoke of was not played for money. Of the social life of the hotel, the writer sees barely more than Kenneth. Describes the schedule of the days, which usually includes skating. Mentions weather. Reference to other hotel guests. Sermon yesterday was given by Mr Aikin, a clergyman at the Alexandra. The debt on the new church has been wiped off this week. On Tuesday writer and Kenneth went to see the bob races and saw two spills at the first corner. Mr Aikin had a spill further down and the crew had to abandon their sleigh.
