  • Scope and Content
Lectures, work and rowing all going strong. Has been to two intereesting lectures in the Ashmolean museum, on Greek sculpture and Attic vase painting - subjects nearly connected to Greek history. Has also been to lectures in psychology, which is a fascinating subject. The lectures are given by [William] MacDougall, a University professor. Reference to 'Benjy'; coming to tea this afternoon. 'He fully expects that in 20 years the British Empire will be a thing of the past and we shall be trodden under the heel of Germany.' Rowing news. General social news. Membership of the JCR [Junior Common Room] does not involve any entertainment of any particular nature. One need not go to the celebrations; lots of people don't, so the expense would be little more than the subscription. Reference to finding accommodation if parents propose visiting for 'Eights Week' The Greek vase and sculpture lecturer, Professor Gardner, lectures with lantern slides, which is very exciting.
