    'Coming back this term seemed to make no splash at all' Misses razor strop and books and looks forward to their arrival. Describes rowing in icy conditions; 'it was so cold that one's thumbs just broke and bled.' Cannot skate on the ice as does not have skates at Oxford. On Friday afternoon went out with Mrs Russell, their party including Miss Baring-Gould. Reference to Claude Russell having had influenza and pneumonia. Hopes the arrangement for Horace has been successful. Reference to lectures on Roman Britain by [Francis John] Haverfield. His next lectures are to be illustrated with lantern slides. Mention of other lectures and lecturers. Mentions meetings with friends. Went to the Balliol concert last Sunday; not as good as some, but enjoyable.
