- Scope and ContentThanks for letter giving London address. Might arrange a meeting when the writer is next in London, would so like to Hentietta and her family. Charlie [son] has not come home - he is working in a steel factory in Alabama; 250,000 hands employed and the factory is 12 miles long. He is working 14 hours and getting 10 dollars a day. From 5 til 2 he in in the works and from 3 till 8 in the technical school. Expecting Gordon [son] and his wife about 17 February for 3 weeks. Hopes to go to Mary [daughter, married to Simon Ralph Fane Spicer] in July. She is looking forward to a grandchild for me. She is living at Spye Park, Chippenham. with her husband's people, in September they gave her a house on the estate, Charlie (Mary's father) stayed with her at Spye [Spye Park, Chippenham] just before chrustmas. All her family are devoted to her.
