Has just received appointment under the Ministry of National Service. Unfortunately the pay is not as much as expected, but comparitively writer is on the highest rate of pay for his rank. Will be going back to Colchester. Not yet all received appointments. Writer will be earning £300 a year. Expect that means he will soo be in civilian clothes. Hadow has been appointed as assistant to Allam at Chelmsford; writer doen not know if he will accept. The job at Colchester will be t look after 25 tribunals and be the minister of National Service official for the Colcheser area and Witham area districts. Will practically be own master. This evening is going to Colchester for the night to stay with the Hadows. Had a very jolly dance last Thursday and going again this Thursday and staying he night with the Rolle's. Describes weekend in London. Comments about the 'Landsdowne Letter' and the battle of Cambrai
