  • Scope and Content
Original CRT was in response to an enquiry in 1971, when County Archivist, Miss P Bell, suggested that the house in question could have been Leighton House, In 2024 another enquiry was received and the then County Archivist, Miss P Birch, responded that based on Charles Leigh living at Prebendal House, Leighton Buzzard and the symmetrical style of that house in pictures perhaps Gibbs had either rebuilt or refronted it for the Leigh family. The Hon Charles Leigh died in 1704 and was succeeded by his great nephew and on Gordon's 1736 map the Prebendal House is shown as the home of the Hon Charles Leigh.
