- Scope and ContentJohn William Tomlinson on his oath states;- I am the surveyor to the Mayor, Adermen & Burgesses of the Borough of Luton, being the Urban District Council forthe said Borough & am an Associate Member of the Institution of Civil Engeneers. In conformity with the direction given to me on the 17th March 1915 by Frederick John Brown & George Ordish, Esquires two of his majesty's Justices of the Peace acting in & for the said Borough, within which the parish of Luton is situate:- 1) I did on Saturday 20th March 1915, cause a notice, a print whereof is hereunto annexed & marked 'A' to be affixed:- a) at the place & by the side of each end of the portion of Dallow Road from whence the same is proposed to be stopped up entirely: b) at the place & by the side of each end of the portion of the Footpath leading from Luton to Chaul End from whence the same is prpoosed to be stopped up entirely: c) at the place& by the side of each end of the new portion of Dallow Road to be substituted for the portion of Dalow Road proposed to be stopped up: d) at the place & by the side of each end of new highway to be substituted for the portion of the footpsth leading from Luton to Chaul End proposed to be stopped up: and did maintain such notice in each of those places for the 4 Successive weeks next after the date (namely the 17th March 1915) on which the said Justices viewed the said highways, that is to say, from the 20th March 1915 to Saturday 17th April 1915. 2) I did insert such notice in the 'Luton News' (being a newspaper published & generally circulatedin the Borough where the highways, propsed to be stopped, lie, for 4 succsssive weeks next after the 17th March, that is to say:- on the 21st March 1915 on the 1st April 1915 on the 8th April 1915 on the 15th April 1915. I produce a copy of each of the said newspapers which are respectively marked 'B' 'C' 'D' 'E' 3) That on Saturday 20th March 1915 I did cause the notice marked 'A' to be affixed to the door of Christ Church, being the of the only parish in which the said highways lie, & also on the door of St. Mary's Church Luton, being the parish church of Luton, & did cause such notices to be maintained on each Church for 4 successive Sundays next after the 17th March, that is to say on 21st, 28th March, 4th April & 11th April 1915. I now deliver to the Justices a plan, marked 'F' )attached to the Justice certificate) particularly describing the said existing & proposed new highway by metes bounds & admeasurement thereof, & hereby verify sush plans. I produce document, marked 'G' dated 11th March 1915, by Arthur George Ferguson, Harold Garier Papillon & Edward Sidney Wilbraham, the owners of the land across & over which the proposed new footpath (coloured yellow on the said plan)& part of the said proposed new portion of Dallow Road will be made, consenting to the making & continuing of such new highways through their land. I also produce document, marked 'H' dated 5th March 1915, under the Common Seal of the Davis Gas Stove Company ltd. being the owners of the remainder of the land or ground over which the said new portion of Dallow Road will be made, consenting to the making & continuing of sush highway through their land.
