Letter from Board of Control, 66 Victoria Street S.W dated 21st October 1914 Sir, I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 10th inst., in which you state that no woman has been appointed to perform with the visitors of licensed houses the duties of Visitors of Institutions for defectives under the Mental Deficiency Act 1913. In reply thereto I am to request you to draw the attention of the jutices to the provisions of section 40 of that Act, and to point out that, apart from the visits to Institutions for Defectives there are other important duties to be performed by the Visitors, and I am to say that at least one woman should be appointed as soon as the necessary steps can be taken. Your obedient Servant A J Pearce Letter from Board of Control, 66 Victoria Street S.W dated 26th October 1914 Sir, In reply to your letter of the 23rd instant I am to refer you to secttions 11, 12 & 40 of the Medical Deficiency Act, which prescribe the duties devolving upon the Visitors apart from visits to Institutopns for defectives. I have happily no experience in lunacy cases, but if the County Council think my services will be of any use to Bedfordshire I shall be happy to serve .
