    The Locomotive Club of Great Britain was founded in 1949 by the late Jack Turner with the aim of fostering a keen interest in railways in the UK and abroad. The Bedford Branch of the club was founded in late 1958. The first committee meeting minutes to survive being dated Monday 3rd November when decisions were reached regarding subscriptions, times of meetings, appointment of treasurer and possible programme.
