- Scope and ContentI am Manager for William Edwin Briggs of Leicester, Boot Manufacturer trading as Briggs & Company. I am manager of their establishment at 55 George Street Luton. On 27th October 1911 I was in the shop at about 5:30pm when my attention was called to two men identifing one of them Frederick Taylor but I am not sure as to the other. I overtook the man Taylor but the other man got away round Stuart Street. The boots produced were on the prisoner Taylor, They are the property of my employer & I value them at 10 shillings & 6 pence, I last saw the boots about half an hour before I took them from the man. They then were stacked with other boots outside the shop window in the place where I had put them. I did not take the bbots from Bateman. Signed Charles Hart.
