    Recognizance; of Reginald Charles Humphries of Tingrith, gameskeeper, George Racher of Eversholt, Police Constable,& Hannah Rayner of Eversholt, a widow for herself & also her grandaughter Sarah Susannah Burden they, on 24th March 1911 came before 2 of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace & acknowledged themselves to owe the Sovereigh the sum of £20 Pounds if they fail in the Condition endorsed. Taken & acknowledged the day & year first mentioned at Woburn, before J Waugh, G Haines Justices of the Peace.

  • Scope and Content
    The Condition of the within wrirren Recognizance is such that the said Edward Miller (the defendant) was this day charged before certain Justices of the Peace of the County of Bedford, that he on the 19th March 1911 in the parish of Tingrith did then & there unlawfully & indecently assault a certain female to wit Sarah Susannah Burden of Eversholt being then a young person under the age of thirteen years, Contrary to the statute in that case provided. If therfor they the said bound persons and the said Sarah Susanah Burden respectively shall appear at the next Court of General Quarter Sessions to be holden in the County of Bedford & there If therfor they the said bound persons and the said Emily Maud Chapman respectively shall appear at the next Court of General Quarter Sessions to be holden in the County of Bedford & there give such evidence as they know upon a Bill of Indictment to be then & there preferred against the defendant fot the offence aforesaid as well to the Jurors who shall there inquire of the said Offence as also to them who shall pass upon the Trial of the defendant, if a true Bill be found then the said Recognizance to be void or else to stand in full force & virtue.
