    Thomas Bower mortgaged the estate now left to his nephew James, to one James [?Joseph] Cole The mortgage has been paid off but no reconveyance made, though will be done James Bower has lately sold the estate by public auction Purchaser has objected to the title on grounds that Thomas Bower was a Roman Catholic James is son of Richard, brother to Thomas. Richard married a protestant and James was brought up a protestant, but then, under direction of uncle Thomas, was baptised a Catholic. He now professes protestantism 'Please to advise whether Mr James Bower under all the circumstances of this Case can convey to the Purchaser and whether such purchaser will be safe in accepting the title?...' with opinion of Charles Butler, Lincoln's Inn, saying that if James Bower will take the proper Oaths etc., he can make a good title to a purchaser of his estate
