    From the introductory notes to this minute book: "EAST BEDS KNOCK-OUT SHIELD FORMED 1949 A meeting convened on Wednesday, March 16th, by the Biggleswade C.C. was held at the Liberal Club when it was decided to organise an evening Knock-Out Competition to be known as the East Beds Cricket Shield. Three shields formerly owned by the East Beds League were taken over. One would be for Senior Teams, one for Junior and Second XI's and the third for "Under 18" teams." Minute Book Apr 1949- Feb 90 for the EBS. Minutes relating to the setting up of charity cricket matches held annually within the cricket season, the object of the competition being to raise as much money as possible for charities and local hospitals.
