    Expects that Mr [Ickwin?] Is coming to England in a few days. The author is well and hopes recipient is also. It would give the writer unspeakable pleasure to visit Harrold again as that was the place he had the happiest days of his life and where Christ first found him when wandering far from God. Hopes that the church and Sunday school are in a prosperous state at Harrold. He would have written sooner but he had not much to tell. Henry Clayson is living some distance but the writer has not seen him for some years. Henry Clayson’s son Thomas was with the author some weeks ago. He has been some years at --- [excerpt or page missing]. Gives kind respect to Mr Philapes and asks if he would be so kind as to drop a few lines. American Tract Society has engaged him for another year as a colporter. Has a had a dry summer some crops are rather poor. Auburn has become a city and is considered in flashing state. It has several large manufacturers for carpets and woollen etc. Supposes Joseph Robinson is on his little farm. Likes America on the whole as it’s better for the working people to get a good livelihood for their work. People are expanding further into the county and there is room. Thinks the number of emigrants coming to America in the course of a year is wonderful.
