Doctor Victor Horace Chambers was a pharmacist and botanist who studied the flora and fauna of Bedfordshire. He was born on 17th August 1911 in Luton, where he lived most of his life. Victor was a student at Ashton Grammar School, Dunstable. He studied to become a pharmacist at Imperial College, University of London. He had a long-standing friendship with John G Dony, author of ‘Bedfordshire Plant Atlas’ and’ The Flora of Bedfordshire’, which began in the late 1930s. Together they studied the flora and fauna of Bedford. . He married Betty in 1961 and died in Meppershall in 1984.
