    To: - A cottage in the North End of Leighton, late occupied Thomas Emerson; abutting East on a cottage formerly of Charles Clarke; South and West on premises late John Sanders; and fronting a lane leading to Stonepit Close (to which Charles Pettit was admitted 3, 4 June 1819 on surrender of Thomas and Elizabeth Emerson; rent peppercorn - Another cottage in the North End, late occupied Charles Clarke, then William Blake; abutting West on the first cottage, East on Stonepit Close, North and West on the garden late John Sanders, South on the lane to Stonepit Close; with use of well (to which Charles Pettit was adm. 14,15 June 1821 on surrender by Charles and Elizabeth Clarke) rent 4 1/2d - 1 r. 32 p. of garden ground, being part of a garden called Merlin’s Cave, late occupied William Pratt, bded. North, East and North West by public roads, SE by Stonepit Close, SW by John Hide’s garden (to which Charles Pettit was adm. 19-20 May 1842, on surrender of Thomas and Elizabeth Sanders) rent 4d. - A cottage fronting the road to Stonepit Close, late occupied William Pratt, piece of garden adjacent and four cottages adjacent, and a right of way from Sanders Lane, and use of the well (paying 1/6 of cost of keeping well in repair); rent 6d. (to which Charles Pettit was adm. 19-20 May 1853, on surrender of Thomas Turnham and David Claridge) The jury present that Charles Pettit in his life erected others; six cottages were standing on this decease; by his will 22 October 1863 he left six copyhold cottages situate near the Stonepit or Quarry Close, occupied William Pratt Snr, Thomas Proctor, Joseph Woodridge, Charles Jones, George Horn, Thomas Pratt Jnr and garden adjacent close to son Edward.
