  • Scope and Content
This group of documents covers copyhold properties in Blunham, held of the main manor of Blunham (Grey), and of a second Blunham manor (St John's College, Cambridge). Most of the admissions have been stitched into 3 files in chronological order, not according to manors, 1557-1602, 1625-1646, and 1649-1658; this stitching is similar, and therefore was probably done at one time after 1658. It may have been done by or for Thomas Bromsall, in whose hands several (though not all) of the properties coalesce about that time. There are a few other documents of which the latest relates to a later Thomas Bromsall, 1747. It seems possible that the group has strayed from a larger collection of documents of the Bromsall family of this neighbourhood, who appear to have died out in the 18th century. They appear to have no connection with the diocese of Salisbury.
