Letter to Ena Mary Underwood Andrew Underwood, Blenheim Barracks, Aldershot. Not coming home this week. Interviewed for job & put down as clerk. Helped in garden of Government House. An 'old man ... & I had to get cart loads of leaf mould out of a wood ... The old man said there was no need to hurry. I told him about our strange plant & the wonderful soil & he said "Oh! Arr!" I also told him about Grandads tobacco [he grew his own for a time] 'Re- the cider, I was NOT drunk...'
