Scope and Content
Frederick James Underwood joined the Bedfordshire Constabulary 21 Apr 1892, having been in Hertfordshire police for 3 months (where he is said to have gone on strike). He was constable at Luton, Arlesey, Toddington, Dunstable, Eversholt, Hockliffe and Woburn; sergeant 1903 at Toddington, 1909 Kempston, inspector 1912 Sandy (Biggleswade division), and Superintendent 1914 Ampthill division. He retired 1925.
