- Archival history29 documents were originally deposited by Mrs Wyldbore Smith of Husborne Crawley in June 1950. The documents derived from a line of the Orlebar family which was settled at Husborne Crawley. Richard Orlebar in 1780 married as his 2nd wife Charlotte Willing; their son, Robert Charles, married Charlotte, daughter and heir of the Rev. Daniel Shipton of Husborne Crawley and settled at Crawley House. The collection was withdrawn from Bedfordshire Record Office by the Wyldbore Smith family in April 1960 and the item previously known as X178/1 was sold at Christies in 1966. In March 1988 Mr N Wyldbore-Smith returned X178/2-7, 9-25, 27 and 29 as a gift. See also Z608.
