    Information of Thomas Balls of Girtford, Sandy, gardener. Having lost potatoes he set his son to watch them. Information of Philip, son of Thomas Balls. Seized William Baines between 12 and 1 a.m. by his father's potato pit; there was a bag beside the pit which contained about 3 pecks of potatoes. He let Baines go and told his father of what had happened. They then called the constable and all three went to Baines house between 3 and 4 a.m. and took him from his bed into custody.
