Scope and Content
Richard Raymond, a bailiff and 'his followers' James Pearson and Edward Read, came to his house to take possession.
He refused to give it up quietly and 'placed his back to the wall in a posture of defiance.'
In the ensuing struggle he was knocked senseless and on recovering was lying in the highway with his hat over his face.
Later he was dragged to the Black Hat public house and detained until 4pm when he was allowed to go.
The furniture which was in the road he took back into his house.
