  • Scope and Content
Left the Black Swan, Shefford and went with four of Mr Macqueen's servants 'as far as they went' and then continued on towards Clophill. Feeling sleepy he got over a gate and lay underneath a haycock. Next morning he set off for Shillington and went round the village to see if he could buy old rags or horse hair. As he was going from Shillington to Gravenhurst he met a man who sold him some horse hair for 8d. The man was dressed in a round frock and high shoes and looked like a horse keeper.
