Scope and Content
After holding his harvest home he went to bed but was woken up by his servant girl. On going downstairs he was set upon by three of his labourers - Joseph Crouch, Henry Town and Thomas Cox. He was knocked down by a blow on his right eye, he managed to get back on the stairs and shut the 'stair foot door' but Town wrenched the door off and kicked and struck him so much that he was oblged to send for the surgeon and is likely to continue in his care 'for some time'.
