Information of William [John? - see QSR1825/256] Staines of Upper Dean, shopkeeper. He was woken up by Samuel Farey between 10 and 11 p.m. and found a bay of his shop broken through. 'The bay is a wall of stud and mud.' Finding two pocket knives missing he got the constable to arrest William Squirrel, aged about fourteen, as he was at play with other boys. The constable searched him and found the two knives and a 'little morocco housewife book.' The latter belonged to Staines wife.
Information of William Bull, petty constable of Upper Dean.
Examination of William Squirrel. William Arnot of Tillbrook and Richard Merrill of Kimbolton 'two young fellows' gave the articles to him.
