    Information of Joseph Brightman of Maulden. Stopped at the Bull public house, Barton and after baiting his horse went inside for refreshment. Coming out two hours afterwards he found that his greatcoat, which had been under some sacks at the bottom of the cart, was missing. William Chater of Ampthill later told him that he saw Joseph Stapleton carrying a greatcoat answering his description. Searched the house of John Stapleton, where Joseph lived and found the coat.Information of William Chater. Was in the Star and Garter public house, Silsoe, and saw Joseph Stapleton with a great coat. The coat had three capes and was a rough white one.Examonation of Joseph Stapleton; bought the coat from a young man with four donkeys, between Barton and Silsoe, for 4 shillings.
