He is married to Mary, daughter of William Joice [Joyce] of Radwell who keeps the Swan public house there. He lives there and has a workshop in the yard, where he carries on his business. In the absence of William Joice and his wife, John and Mary Farrer had charge of the public house. Thomas Solesbury was drinking in the house between 1 and 2 p.m.. Farrer went out to his workshop but returned in a few minutes when Solesbury was missing. He was found under a bed. A box kept in a drawer of a chest of drawers had been broken open, although the contents had not been disturbed.
