    Examinations and depositions. Evidence of William Topley. He searched the house of Thomas Allen for property stolen from Thomas Scott and found property belonging to himself. Evidence of Chas. Duncombe, acting constable of Houghton Regis that he witnessed the finding of a silver spoon and part of a jack bearing the mark of Mr Topley. Evidence of John Duncombe, acting constable corroborates his brother’s evidence. In defence, the prisoner states that he is ‘quite innocent of all charges alleged against him and that he found the silver spoon in a ploughed field’.
