Scope and Content
Went to bed between nine and half past and did not get out of bed until John Carter came for him the next morning between five and six. He went with Carter towards the turnpike road from Bedford to Hitchin to see Carter's brother Thomas, whom they expected to come that way. Shortly before they got to Grooms wood, Carter said there was a pigeon sitting on the bank. They then found the bags etc. with the pigeons in. Denies giving a different story to Edward Robinson.
Information of John Carter: similar to that of Stringer; they were watching for his brother Thomas Carter to come through on the coach from Bedford to London.
