    Wishes many happy returns. Glad Bess got home safely from Christmas visit. Minnie and George visit. Edgar came from Leighton in Sid Burnham’s motor. Thinks Edgar would like a motor ‘especially as he is fond of tinkering about with any sort of machine. George was much improved going to be in the choir as soon as he can read the hymns. Details of Min’s clothes. Visit to Gubblecote to tea. Nellie went to the officer’s dance at Meads. Mrs R wants something towards the mothers & girls friendly tea. ‘Edgar is so interested in front trees always he saw a lot of young prune trees in a hedge at Astrope (Henry’s) & thinks they ought to be planted out. Did not know before that they grow from an old tree & don’t have to be grafted. That is how they get them for the orchards their way. If nothing is turned[?] in cut them off can be pulled up & planted in a garden till a good size.’
