- Scope and ContentEdward Radcliffe, Devonshire Square, London, esquire, complains --- Ralph Radcliffe, late London, Esquire, elder brother of Edward Radcliffe and his associate in trade, had become considerably indebted to Edward Radcliffe and therefore in his will, 11 May 1739, devised to Edward Radcliffe Beckerings Park Farm in the occupation of John Ravens, subject to proviso as H/DE44-45; Ralph Radcliffe died 27 Aug 1739, leaving Edward Radcliffe his heir. Reciting agreement H/DE47, and conveyance, H/DE44-45, 50. John Radcliffe died 16 Sep 1742. Jane Radcliffe paid £2794..10s..0d, the whole debt of £6726..13s..7 1/4d being therefore satisfied, but the executors of John Radcliffe now maintain that the fictitious consideration of £4,000 (H/DE44-45) was actual and that therefore Edward Radcliffe is indebted to them for that amount, as trustees for the infant children of John Radcliffe, John Radcliffe having bequeathed his personal estate in trust for the children. 27 Apr 1745
