    Examinations and depositions: Henry Stonebridge [Stanbridge], Shefford. He keeps the Green Man at Shefford. John Smith snr., John Smith jnr. and Soloman Smith came to his house and had several quarts of beer. Each time they had a quart hey paid with a shilling. Henry Stonebridge's wife noticed that the silver did not ring. Henry Stonebridge 'charged the constable who accidentally came in' with the custody of the men. He demanded of the mn who had passed the shillings to give good coin which he instantly did. Information of James Haddow [Hadow], constable of Shefford. The mistress of the house told him that they always gave her a shilling for a quart of beer and she had given them sixpence change. They had eight quarts in all. One man left the room before being searched. Examination of Etheldridge [Ethelrige] Lewington who saw a peson come out of the Green Man; found seven shillings over an adjoining fence. Evidence of James and Joseph Wright and Jame Harewood.
