    (i) George Draper, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, gentleman (ii) George Nodes (iii) Samuel How, London, gentleman [consideration: that George Nodes & Charles Higgs at his direction by Lease & Release H/DE179-80 have conveyed the Manor of Holwell & lands in Holwell & Shillington, Cadwell & Arlesey to use of (i) and £500 paid by (iii) to (i)] (i) at direction of (ii) to Samuel How --- woods, underwoods, springs and woodground in manor of Stevenage, late in the occupation of Sir William Lytton, Knight, and now (i), called Norton, alias Newton wood, Whitney wood, Boxwood Queach alias Boxfield Queach, Condell alias Conydell Grove, Hell Grove, Hazell Grove, & Little Connell. excepting: to the Bishop of London 12 of the best timber trees on every acre of the woods, and 12 best staddles & storers besides on every fall of the woods in every acre so felled granted to (i) by the Bishop for the lives of (i) and Hadley Doyley, Furnivall's Inn, gentleman, and of Daniel Clutterbuck, Staples Inn, gentleman, at the yearly rent of 20 marks. proviso: that if one or more of the three persons dies before (iii) has been paid principal & interest & (ii) refuses to renew the lease then (iii) may renew the lease for such life/lives as he sees fit and may charge the premises with the further sum of his expenses.
