    The ‘Glansa’ was advertised as ‘for checking working expenses. From it a profit and loss statement can easily be made out and income proved for Income Tax Assessments’. Gives receipts under column headings: date, names and addresses, folio, Cheques drawn from bank [this column actually used for total cash received], discounts allowed [used for trade receipts], cash received [used for cash to bank], other receipts, and payments under column headings: date, names etc, folio, total amounts paid out, discounts received, and dissection of payments under headings: stock purchases [used for drawn from bank], cash paid to bank, stationery postage and petty expenses, stable expenses cart and harness repairs, carriage and cartage, rent rates taxes insurance, heating and lighting, advertising, general repairs and renewals [used for exchange cheques], wages and salaries, personal drawings. Other alterations to use of columns are made later in the volume. Begins in Jan 1919 with receipts from C A W and T C E and payment on 16 Jan 1919 ‘By purchase of name Bd’ after November 1919 the firm seems to be quite established with lots of jobs being listed in the receipts although many are small jobs and there is a lot of dismantling and erecting of huts. In September 1920 T C Eckstein makes a loan to the firm of £233.13.0. In Jan 1921 there is an entry for the purchase of land at Canning Street. Eckstein makes another loan to the firm in April 1921 for £150. November 1921 Eckstein is paid motorcycle expenses. M White is paid a salary in 1920-21 and from 1922 G J White is also paid a salary. 6 Dec 1922 George J White invests £200 in the firm. He also makes small loans to the firm in 1923. From February 1924 the payments that had been made to C A White are made to Mrs C A White. Salary payments to G J White stop after April 1924. First payment to A Chrystal 14 June 1924. A Chrystal makes a £40 loan to the firm in Sept 1924. Last payment of salary to M White 30 July 1927 – replaced by E Hammond. The firm start to receive income from rents in about 1926 and in 1927-28 appear to be working in Leicester. Chrystal and Eckstein make loans to the company in 1928.
