    Conveyance in Trust i) Samuel Whitbread of Southill, esquire ii) James Lilburne of Southill, gentleman iii) Robert Lord Ongley, Baron Ongley of Old Warden, William Henry Whitbread and Samuel Charles Whitbread, minor sons of i) John Barber of Southill, churchwarden of Southill William Wilshere of Hitchin, Hertfordshire, esquire iv) William Wells, churchwarden of Southill Richard Bodger and Mark Norman, overseers of the poor reciting vestry meeting of 8 Jun 1802, decision to raise £1,600 to build workhouse Samuel Whitbread has agreed to give land, and workhouse is now nearly completed on the site annuities have been sold to Reverend John Sim of Bath Street, Cold Bath Fields, Middlesex; Deborah Field of Hitchin, spinster: i) and CWs [?SCW] will enter into bonds to secure said annuities - close of ground on Southill called Beeches Piece, containing 5 acres 2 roods 29 perches, with buildings thereon North: town street every other part of land i) in trust to be used as a workhouse, with yard and gardens, and remainder of land to be used to keep cows for supplying the poor in the said house with milk term 5,000 years signatures. i) ii) iv) and of iii) John Barber, William Wilshere witness.
