No news from surgeon. Ike very pleased they liked the freesias ‘they have worked up quite a connection for them & have 7 houses & parts of 2 others but of course they are not in all the year round. They have been making up to 4/- a bunch of 12, 2/6 seconds but of course they are expensive to grow & market. Frank does not grow them but he has had some very nice forced tulips & daffs & did well with them during the Royal funeral week. He has quite a lot of glass now – all that land – the little paddock – at the back of the barn is under glass or lights now…’
Books, weather ‘we have lots of snowdrops in the garden & a few aconites, the japonica has been trying to come out for weeks…’, Mothers' Union meeting.
Wonders if Tom is to have his land. Saw piece in the Telegraph, articles about Malaya by Malcolm Muggeridge good, opinion on how British politicians are dealing with it. ‘glad you saw the procession on TV & you seem to have the same opinion of it that we have all very well for anything special but not for always.’
About quarter to four this morning police rang for Joyce as Moot Hall door unfastened. Joyce went to meet the police but it was alright.
